英文文章之就业之难

A record of 6.99m students are graduating from universities; and employers’ recruiting quota(配额) is 15% less than previous years. These two factors are making this year’s graduate employment situation worse. Reports show that by the end of April, less than 30% of students graduating from universities in Beijing and Shanghai found employment. The bleak(暗淡的) outlook for employment has resulted in many calling 2013 the “toughest job-hunting year”.

What are the reasons behind the difficulty in finding employment?

范例1:

At a social level, the tough employment should be blamed on(归咎于) enrollment expansion(扩招) which also turns out to be the most important reason. The past decade has witnessed the number of college graduates soaring to 7m, owing to the expanding enrollment policy. As a result, more graduates have been put into the labor market. But taking into consideration China’s national conditions(国情) that its economy has limited needs for highly-educated and highly-skilled workers, it is not difficult to find graduates have been oversupplied. Besides, because of the unreasonable subject arrangement, some majors do not fit in with the demand of the jobs, particularly those humanities and social sciences majors. Then here comes a job crisis.

范例2:

On the other hand, with overflow of colleges, most ordinary people can obtain a college diploma. Thus university graduates are no longer held dear by employers as many of them do not actually reach “University level”, who just attend college for the sake of diploma, not for the sake of development and research. They spend most of their time building social network instead of studying. Also, when looking for a job, many graduates aim high without regarding their ability and experience. They desire decent jobs with high payment and reputation which they can hardly secure for they are not competitive enough to meet job requirement. However, they seem reluctant to give up.
