每年12月3日的“国际残疾人日”(World Disabled Day)是一年一度的活动，旨在促进人们对残疾问题的理解和动员人们支持维护残疾人的尊严、权利和幸福。1992年10月12日至13日，第47届联合国大会举行了自联合国成立以来首次关于残疾人问题的特别会议。大会通过决议，将每年的12月3日定为“国际残疾人日”(International Day of Disabled Persons)。
历届主题
2012年国际残疾人日的主题是：“共建更美好世界，造福全民，造福参与发展的残疾人”。
2011年国际残疾人日的主题是“人人共享美好世界，推动残疾人融合发展”。
2010年国际残疾人日的主题是“让千年发展目标具有包容性：增强世界各地残疾人及其社区的力量”。
2009年国际残疾人日的主题是“为所有人实现千年发展目标：赋权给残疾人和其在世界各地的社区”。
2008年国际残疾人日的'主题为“《残疾人权利公约》：人人享有尊严和正义”，英文：Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities: Dignity and justice for all of us
2007年国际残疾人日的主题为“为残疾人提供体面的工作”。
2006年国际残疾人日的主题是“信息无障碍”，意在强调残疾人在使用互联网等信息通信技术获取信息时，不应存在任何障碍。
